Learning Linux Part 8: Why I chose KUbuntu

There are thousands of Linux distributions.  Why would I choose KUbuntu over others?  I initially thought I was going to choose Linux Mint but after I reviewed KUbuntu I was very impressed.  Here are the reasons:

For a home or business user, it is the most compatible of all Linux distributions.

Companies seem to have either .deb or .rpm files if they don't have their package in a repository.  That eliminates the Arch and SUSE main branches.

The Dolphin file manager has a split pane like Directory Opus.  It also has plug ins.

The Kate text editor is the best default available on any distribution.

The default Konsole terminal is the best default available on any distribution.

It detects updates for apt, flatpak, and snap.  Linux Mint only does apt and flatpak.  The Discover Store app works well.

KUbuntu LTS is stable.  It is not a rolling release.  Although Fedora is used by Linus Torvalds that is like using beta software for your operating system.

Zorin OS looks nicer but you can't do simple things like adding a desktop shortcut.  The super key search is on top.

KUbuntu is not just beginner friendly.  It is plain friendly.  It is easy to use.
